Upgrading BOSE h/u?
Upgrading BOSE h/u?
ok so i have a full bose system in my 96 infiniti i30 and i recently installed 2 audiobahn subs and an amp. i had to use a high-end to rca converter in order to get the rca for the subs. i heard that in the long run this will ruin my rear components. anyway on to the question part. if i buy an alpine cda 7995 h.u. which does not have a built in amp, will it work with my bose components which already come with built in amps? also is there any bass volume control switches i can buy because apparently my amp did not come with an external one that you can easily change and my h.u. bass volume control isnt doing much. thanks for your time and sorry it was kinda long
where did you head it will ruin your components?
yes, the 7995 will work, but you will need to convert the RCA outputs to speaker wire using a Peripheral Ventetta 4 or some other adapter made by another company. Once you convert the front and rear preouts to speaker wire you can hook them right up to the wiring harness. The 7995 will have a built in dedicated subwoofer level control so you dont need an external one. There are external ones you can buy for like $15. The RCA, instead of going from the head unit to the amp, goes to the RCA level controller first, then to the amp, so that you basically control the RCA cable and the signal it sends.
hope this helps

You can just splice on female RCA leads to your speaker leads (factory) behind the radio and plug into the preouts on your radio. No need to spend the money on "adaptors".

i wouldnt splice my rca's if i were u. if u ever decide to go with a different setup, or get a new car and want to keep the head unit, or want to sell the head unit, ur basically s.o.l., i know i wouldnt buy a head unit with ****ed up RCAs.

Please explain what is F**ked up....Nothing at all touches the HU itself except for plugging in the RCAs, in which case would always be needed for adding an amp and thats what they are there for. Second of all on the Factory wires would be were the splicing is done. Nothing gets harmed or "f**ked up" Do you have an alarm on your car? If so then how was it connected? Spliced. No harm in splicing wires into others, its bneen done since the begining of wiring.

+1
I'm with don - i'm a certified installer (i know - big deal), and when I do security, remote starts, line-outs, etc., the MECP mandated way to do it is to splice into the existing wire. That's just how you do it. The only way you would f*** something up is if you are in idiot
