what is the best $100 12" sub

Hey i want to upgrade my old 12" kicker sub. i am going to keep the amp for now and i want a 4 ohm 12" sub. i was looking at some infinity and alpine stuff but i heard that image dynaimcs and some others are good to. I have always known JL audio to be good but i am no professional and dont need to dump that much money in my setup. My amp is a hundred watts RMS at 4 ohms if that helps. I also have infinty references for my 6.5" and my 6.5" components. They are hooked up to a clarion amp pushing around 50 watts a piece.

100watts RMS? I guess an ID12v.3 dual2 ohm wired to 4ohm could be a good bet for that amount of power.

If you look into resonant engineering, a 12" RE series in SVC4 could do the duty very well!

JL W0-4...

Very efficient, dependable, good looking, plus it's rated to handle 125Wrms and costs just about $100. Your 100W and $100 would be a great match for that sub. They work really well in a sealed box or a ported box. I suggest the JL W0-4 not only cause it sounds good, but because I have had plenty of experience with them. I've had two 12" JL W0-8(8ohms) in my car(s) for 7 years now and they still sound great. I enjoyed them so much, that I just bought two new ones to replace them when I redo my trunk. Sadly, the old ones have taken a beating in my trunk and don't look so pretty anymore but still sound like new!

I was going to recommend the same JL sub that erty67 wrote about. My friend just put some in his truck, two 8's wired mono to a Kicker ZR240. They sound clean, and have a good amount of output. When my Solobaric eventually dies, I will be looking to get something from JL, most likely their JLW6V2.
