system for $150 - what sub, amp, and box combo?

I know it sounds crazy: a system for $150 or less, but I am on a budget. I was thinking either a single 10 or 12 putting out between 200-250 RMS. The amp is the most expensive, so does anyone know any "no name" brands that are pretty good? I'm kind of reluctant to buy stuff from Wal-Mart, but I might do it.

Im open to any suggestions and thanks for checking out the thread.

How about you install two 6.5" speakers in a 1ft^3 ported box tuned to about 40hz and feed it about 100w/rms You'll probably get is louder then you think.

OR you can not waste your money and save for something worth buying

How in the world can you possibly be reluctant to buy stuff from WalMart, yet only want to spend $150?

But seriously, if you're really that intent on only spending that much money (my first piece of advice would be to save up a little more...it'll be worth it in the long run) is to buy used off of eBay. There's TONS of deals out there on second-hand equipment...just be patient and spend some time searching. Honestly, just about any name-brand items will sound good...just spend the time to install it properly.

Oh yeah...you'll save some money by building your own box. $20-30 worth of materials will buy you what you need, assuming you have the tools.

save your money....if you want something that even sounds like bass then you need to spend at least 300 on your sub box amp combo....as for no name brand amps check out Pyle, Crunch, and Power Acoustik. I just bought 3 power acustik amps and i love them they sound awsome and for the price they cant be beat. but save up a bit more then put your stuff in you will be soooo much better off

$150? That's gonna be tough. I would say buy used. Used electronics usually sell for half the cost. Check out metallic97gxe. He had some stuff for sale and I believe he in also in GA.

If you can muster up $200 i have a nice combo for you in Atlanta. (no box though)

Nearly new image dynamics IDQ12v.2 dual2ohm
Used once Planet Audio P150.2 amp (303@4ohm@12.7v)

A very nice system for the money, and these are not cheap components. If you are interested give me a holler. If you live really close to me i'll be happy to show you the stuff sometime (druid hills area)

~~~Oh and if you want something even cheaper (120) I have a brand new pioneer TS-W33C 12" subwoofer and an old school used Hifonics eagle 45x4 amp.
(rated at 12v flat)
Could probably get 100+w@4ohm bridged to the sub.
I would recommend the first idea though, let me know if you are interested!
