Is Satellite Radio Better and why???

Ok I plan to get a new HU with my upcoming "system" (say it like Dr. Evil) and I want a Pioneer, I know some of them come ready for satellite radio, I not sure which brand, but here's my question. Does sattellite radio's quality of sound greatly improve on the current FMs out there. Or will it sound like any other old radio? Will it have a digital quality or have an AM/FM sound? Is it really worth the $10 a month and is there a great amount of new music espsecially, rap, rock, alternative, etc.

THanks a lot guys.....

I read an article recently in Car Audio and Electronics, I think, where the guy said the music sounded very close to cd quality. They do compress it a little bit but apparently not that much.

Pioneer is XM Radio. Here is the channel listing with some samples:

Lots of variety, on both XM and Sirius.

My XM setup has sound quality of FM or better and thus far I am only using the cassette adapter. This weekend will be wiring in the DELPHI modulator which should improve things even more (I am running a factory BOSE).
BUT its not the sound quality that I was after, it was the programming. Got tired of listening to FM and its endless ads, contests, boring DJs, etc.

Simply put..in your house do you pay for cable/satellite? Why? More channels,less/no commercials, better picture,etc...all the same reasons for having it in your car.

On the sound quality..if going direct, yes the SQ is better than FM. If going through an FM modulator, then pretty close to the same. Just more variety.

I have XM and it is awesome! I seriously never listen to anything else. Not having commercials is incredible and you can't go back once you get use to it.
