Possible to fit 6x9s in the back?

So I was wondering if there was any way to fit 6x9 speakers in the back of my max?

No!!! You don't wanna chose 6x9 rather then 6.5. The sound comming from 6.5 is more natural and tight. That is why midbasses and subs are mostly "round" (except KICKER ). Plus you need to build a custom wooden adapter made from MDF and cut a little bigger whole.

Does it worth a hussle?

We have used Image Dynamics and then we used Rainbow midbasses and we got the second place in IASCA (Red Toyota Tacoma, you can check on IASCA site). Trust me, look for these two if you want the right sound. That's it. Both are good. I have Rainbows. Although they cost about 450 for just midbasses. You also need at least 85 watts to feed each.

Well, subwoofer will give you "slow" bass, which is only an addition to your midbasses which actually giving you the tight bass. If you listen to techno, rock and any other type of music, the punch occurs between 50hz and 200 hz - somewhere where your midbasses play.

Your midbasses should be set for 150hz down to 60hz. and sub should go from 75hz down to 35-40 hz. If it goes even below, you'll get rumble bass (nonmusical bass) which they like to cut on the concert shows. Trust me, you don't need it neither.

You never want to omit midbasses, they are the leading part in the rythm of your system. My advise.

Soundfill?

6X9's are genrally crap. I got lucky and found a car with bose. With the addition of amp/sub it already sounds more balanced than the multi-billion dollar set-up in my old civic.

Not to mention rear speakers are a lot of work for diminishing return.

Ditch the rear speakers altogether (excpet for the sub). Dedicate all your energy and budget to a strong front stage with plenty of power. Who wants music coming from behind them anyway?

BBOYSTEVIE, front stage involves kicks and active crossovers which involves so much hassle (i've gone through that). I don't think this guy is loking for that right now

It can involve that, but there are some speakers that sound and stage very well off-axis, like in factory locations. Kick panels and active cross-overs definitely help but certainly aren't required. Time alignment can help a tremendous amount in staging without kicks too.

I don't understand why everybody is putting speakers in the back, you don't stand with you back to the stage on a concert now do you?

The sound has to come from the front, and everyone that is interested in SQL would prove me right. The only thing I have in the back of my car is a few 6.5 mid-bass speakers that play directly on the headunit. In the front I have a 2 way Micro Presision (serie 5) composet playing on a Helix amp. I still have to install my 12 inch sub but I'm to lazy to start on it... oh well, next week I'll start on it cause then I have a week off, after the install I will post pictures on cardomain.

As a head unit I use a Becker Traffic Pro.

It's not about how many speakers you can plant in your vehicle, it's how you plant them, how you align them, and how good you setup your system...
For example, I helped a friend installing the exact same setup as I have in his car, and his brother has a car with two 15 inch subs, 6x9's 4-way in the rear, and a poor installed composet in the front. Allso he uses 3(!) sepperate amps with 2x 400 watt RMS each, while I only have a 4 channal Helix amp (4x 150 watt RMS)... His sound setup with all his amps and speakers doesn't sound half as good as the setup I made for myself and my pall.

Make your own conclussions. Once my sub is installed in the closed box, and setup the system like it should (now that´s the real b!tch!) I'm going to compete in SQL matches with it. Both our setups cost the same, only I spend my money better

I saved money that he spend on 2 extra amps, an extra sub, 2 extra 6x9 speakers and used it for active X-over and a device for getting the timing right (better staging), I don't know how you would call in english cause I'm dutch, so forgive my poor english

well i actually decided to try turning the back speakers off (my head unit allows me to do that instead of fading all the sound to the front) and in my opinion it didnt sound half as good as before

so, needless to say, the back speakers are playing once again

You should get better speakers in the front, and only get mid-bass speakers in the back witch you turn allmost off with the fader on your head unit, the speakers in the back shouldn´t play high tones cause that ****s up your whole staging.
