low volts

My voltage meter has been getting low readings lately and it is making my JL 1000.1 amp cut out because of the volts being so low. I was wondering if my battery was bad or could it be my alt. or do I need to do the magic 3. I also have a PPI amp powering my comp. speakers but they never cut out due to the low volt why is this?

most likely the alternator... but first thing i would check is the amp ground.

I agree. When the alt goes you normally have some other issues as well. I would definately check out your amp ground, might be corroding.

The volts drop below 10.5 when the car is running and the system is on. I have to turn the bass down or turn down the volume to make the amp come back on. I guess I'll do the magic 3 and check the ground.
