Need help in choosing Amp...

Hey guys, I'm seriously considering jumping on the deal that thezeb has on those CDT CL6a component set and a pair of CL6 midbass for the rear. Would my headunit handle these until I can afford to amplify them? I have a Pioneer 7400MP which has 50Wx4.

What would be a good amp to power these babies? I was thinking of just getting a pioneer amp or maybe a jbl. Also, how would I hook this up? Would my HU need more than one preout? And, would a 4channel amp with say 50Wx4 be sufficient? Is the signal coming to the amp already amplified from the HU?

Thanks for any help. As you can tell, I'm new to this. All I have right now is a Kenwood 1000W amp and 2 10s and Alpines in the doors and rear deck. I'm just wanting better SQ.

Thanks,
drew

if youy want those speakers to sound like they should AMP THEM!!

stay away from pioneer amps

you have 3 x RCA Pre-Outs ( Front, Rear + Sub)
so adding another amp is not a problem..

if you tell us your budget we can help you find an amp accordingly

you can run the cdts off that h/u fine until you get an amp. you might even like them enough without an amp. but id get a 2 channel amp and run the front off it and run the back off the h/u.

I can probably spend around $200 for an amp. What is a good brand amp to go with? I heard JBLs are decent... this true?

Thanks for the advice!

Drew, I'm in the same boat as you, I want a decent 4-channel amp to power the JL components I'm going to get...just save and see if you can get a decent amp for like $250-$300.

Would this Rockford 300s amp be enough to power the front speakers?

Also, when I hook the amp up to the front output RCA from my HU, will it already be amplified any by the HU?

Thanks a lot!

No, I'm asking if the signal coming out of the RCA on the back of my HU going to the amp will already be amplified. For example, my HU puts out say 15W RMS per channel. Will that be added to the rating of the amplifier? So it would be 15W from HU then amplified with 75W from amp = 90W RMS?

Sorry for the confusion, but as you can see I am definitely a newbie at all of this!

Thanks,d

No it wont, the output gives VOLTAGE not power. The voltage is basically the signal strength of the music signals going to the amp. A higher voltage level results in cleaner signals with less chance of noise.
