Running a wire for amplifier

How did you guys run the amp wire through your cars? Did you drill a hole and just poke it through or is there already a hole I can use?

did you guys seal the hole in any way? sorry if the question sounds stupid but I've never installed an amp before

also, how did you lift your carpeting up to run the wires?

drilled hole thru the firewall just left of the power steering pump(?)...came out above and to the left of the brake pedal; and yes, you should use a rubber grommet(sp) to keep your wire from being shredded by the sharp edges of the hole.

as for the carpet, just pull it up...i was scared of doing that too, but it looks the same now as it did before the install; BTW, the door sills along the floor just pop right out...easy to do, won't hurt anything.

good luck....

yeah i ran mine along the door sills too. not sure if it's the same on other gens, but on my 3rd gen, the sills are held in by 4 plastic screws. after the plastic screws are removed, remove the 4 tabs. then the thing just comes off.

on a 4th gen the door sills just pop off. in the driver's kick there is a plastic nut that holds the kick panel to the floor - you can just unscrew it by hand. the sills are just held to the metal with little clippies

i wired my car this past weekend, SOOO easy. DO NOT DRILL in your firewall. i have a 97 so it should be the same. just find the black rubber cap in the firewall. pluck it out and thread the wire through so it comes out near the pedals. then lift up door sills. PM me w/ any other ?'s
