upgrading subwoofer for bose systems

not bad. but the problem [for some] is its not a plug n play operation. it doesnt come with the nis2 harness to plug into the bose

from what ive read up on is that if you have the bose, the pac aoem-nis2 has the male/female connectors so nothing has to be spliced, just plug n play and in the end, it adds 2 pairs of rca's.
on another note, would it be possible to just splice the rca adpaters into the rear speakers to get the signal to the amp? is the sound quality degradation worth it?

5th Gen bose wiring diagram
http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/157919
Connect it to any of the outputs, except for the sub, sounds odd when I hooked it up there.

Wouldn't let me edit, and I just noticed you had a 6th Gen.
Just do what I did before I found the diagram. Don't cut the wire just slide the plastic coating back far enought to make a connection, till you find the outputs. Just don't splice into any thick solid red/yellow wires and you'll be fine.

LF blue/white (+) - blue/black (-)
RF white/black (+) - green/black (-)
LR green/yellow( +) - blue/yellow (-)
RR blue (+) - red (-)
The amp is only for the subs, each speaker has it's own amp built in.
my last question would be would i tap the Line out converter at the amp under the rear deck?

actually what i'm looking to do is replace the factory deck with an alpine that i currently have in my sentra , the max that i might be getting has bose without the navigation , so i'm curious if there is a walk thru or if its just as simple as a normal install to get it working with the factory speakers or if those would need to be replaced , any help would be greatly appreciated , also what i'm curious about is what would happen with the display screen in the car with the radio function would it still display the track name and station or would that stop functioning after replacing the deck.
I appologize for a newbie question and was unable to find anything on this site about it , i'm new to the maxima world , i don't even own it yet just trying to get the loan finalized , i've been driving an sr20 powered car for the past 3 years

I have an 04 maxima /bose and just had my 2 kicker comps installed using the LOC method. They tapped into rear driver side subwoofer to make the connection and my subs sound like crap, no where near what they supposed to sound like. They said it wasnt possible to tap anything from the head unit going into the amp for a signal so they had to use the output of the factory amp. Would it make a difference if they had tapped the rear door speakers or front speakers coming off the amp instead of the rear 8 inch subs?

I was thinking the same thing, but thats what they told me. I also saw that they used a cheap pac SNI-15 which is only rated at 10-20 watts and i would think that even the puny bose amp is putting out more juice to the factory sub than that! I dont know if that has much to do with anything though, but if it does, i have a scosche LOC which is rated up to 80 watts that im willing to try. I was thinking about just tapping the full range speakers from up front and gettin a signal from them instead of the factory subwoofer, but I dont know if I should tap before the signal is amplified at the amp or after it is amplified, that would be much better. Any insight into this??

that's really weird since i have the same year (04) and tried the same thing with the same subs using the same LO hi low converter method......only difference is i tapped into the rear speaker wires instead of the sub, and it doesn't sound like crap; it sounds like nothing cause the damn thing's barely playing.....now i've been screwing with this thing for the whole day, and i still don't know which wires are which.......i know green/yellow, yellow/black is one speaker and red/blue is the other, so which color r the damn subs???????
Actually i went out checking this morning and I believe the subs are white for positive and black for negative......i'm going to try to tap in and see what happens

For non-bose system?
I want to hook up my 2 amps, EQ, 4 MB quart components. But what does teh back of the stock non-bose look like? Are there RCA outputs or do I need to do a line converter. You guys talk about the PCA thing but does that work on the non-bose? Thanks.
