Need Help (Is the Maxima's audio system really that different?)

I recently bought a used 1995 Maxima GLE that's seriously one of the coolest cars I have ever seen (but I'm a little biased). I have a problem though in that one of the speakers (the one in the right door) is blown. I went to the Goodguys to get a new speaker today and the sales clerk (who was a real ***hole) was telling me I'd need to buy a whole new system and that I'd have to rip out my deck and that all this was going to cost at least $500. I have no idea what kind of speakers or wiring or system I have because like I said I just bought the car used and the previous owner seemed to put a lot of money into the sound system. So what I'm asking is what's involved in replacing the blown speaker? Do I really need to replace my whole system just to fix a $30 speaker?

Also what is involved in getting the speaker grill in the door off? I was messing around with it today but couldn't seem to get it unless I took the whole door panel off.

Thanks

door pannel has to come off. if you have bose then yo either have to get another bose speaker or replace the whole system. someone once said the bose sound system is at 1 Ohm regular car systems are at 4 Ohms thus not interchangeable.u could replace all the speakers and use a 4 channel amp but if you aren't doing that yourself it would probably cost the same amount.

Thekenone is right man, when i was getting my system installed, i wanted to do it piecemeal cause that woulda been easier on my budget, like speakers 1 week, headunit the next, the sales guy said cause i got bose i gotta do it all at once or not at all, cause the headunit has no amp of its own, the speakers got their own amps at 1ohm, so you gotta do it all at once . unless you wanna just get 1 bose speaker. its kinda funny, you shell out the extra $$ for bose, then live to regret it later on when you want to swap the system out.

You can probably find someone that is parting out their car selling a bose speaker, that would probably be the easiest/cheapest way.

As others have said it really depends if its Bose or not. I am currently pulling the bose out of my car and completely replacing it. When I bought my car the sound was a bonus, I actually test drove the car and knew I wanted it, if I was doing it again and taking more time I would prefer not to have the bose but its served me and kept me content now for 4 years. If you do have bose and need a new speaker might try posting on nwmaxima.com and see if anyone in your area would sell ya one, I know there are some people over around seattle that are regulars on that site. I live on the other side of WA bout 80 miles north of Spokane.
