Anybody have this problem before?

Ok here's my setup:
Kenwood eXcelon X657 Tape output set to Non Fading
Fosgate 800a4 bridged for 400x2
2 10" Infinity Kappa Perfects in .60cF airspace each
For some reason the bass is good at about
med/low frequencies. Everywhere else, it
just sucks. High end bass sounds like its
starting to distort, bottom freq bass cant be
heard or felt. Wassup with that? Am I doing
something wrong? I tried messing around with
the gains on the amp.. I think I have them turned
up about halfway each side... though I'm not totally
sure. Any other setting with the gains besides the one
I'm using gives me no sound at all.
Also... as a side note.. the bass seems slow... like
maybe delayed a tiny tiny tiny bit.

o yea, one more thing..
the only things I skimped on
while putting the system together
was the fact that I hadnt' carpeted
box yet, didn't buy polyfill to fill the box,
and haven't wired the 1.0F cap to the amp yet.
Would these affect anything?

Well, the subs seem to be able to
handle higher frequencies,
according to magazine reviews and
other research I've done. I currently
have the amp's built-in X-over Low passed at 80 hz.
The connection is being run directly from
my amp to my deck with no x-over in between.
Low frequency extension is cool....
waay good enough for me. Plus thats the
recommended enclosure size from Infinity
and I trust their data.

Yeah, but bench tests show that each sub would love 1.0cu.ft. of airspace. There is always a range, and Infinity has listed the smallest of the range, because many people look for small-enclosure subs specifically.
