Is this overkill?

Hello all
I need to get an amp for my components up front. Here is the speaker info:
Infinity Kappa 60.5cs
Sensitivity 90 dB
Frequency Response 45 - 21k Hz
RMS Power Range (Watts) 2-90
Peak Power Handling (Watts) 270
Impedance (Ohms) 4

I am looking at two diffrent amps:

Alpine MRV-T320 2/1 Channel Power Amplifier
80W x 2 Car Amplifier
80 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
110 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms

Alpine MRV-T420 2/1 Channel Power Amplifier
110W x 2 Car Amplifier
110 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
170 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms

Is the T420 going to be too much? I was thinking of going with more power and turning it down, but if I am not going to see any gain I would rather save the $30.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Im not an expert but I think to get the best sound out of speakers you should go with the 420. The extra power won't harm them if your not full volume all the time. And the higher you go the nicer they will sound.

Price of opinion .02 cents

For the approximatly $100 difference you are not going to notice a difference between the two amps. If you are getting a good deal on the 320, then get that. You probably would not notice a big difference in sound unitl you stepped up to about 200Wx2.

Why would you give 90 watt speakers 200 watts?!

t420 $159.99
t320 $129.99

The diffrence is $30 so I think i'm going with the t420. I definately wouldn't go with anything over 120 Watts RMS. I dont want to blow my speakers.

Clean power will not blow speakers, distorted (unclean) power will. You have more of a chance of blowing speakers by trying to run them with not enough power and turning it up too loud as opposed to having excess power and not having to turn it up all the way.

I was going by Crutchfield prices as a reference. Where are you finding the t420 for $159. That is a damn good price.

there will not be an audible difference. the smaller amp will be perfect for them. they are a sensitive speaker.

I think so, I have an MRD-M300 pushing 1 Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1d and it sounds great. Thats why I am stiching with Alpine.
