Bose speakers- works with radio, not CD

Anybody have this problem before? I have an aftermarket Clarion HU in my 90 GXE, stock Bose speakers. The left front speaker works fine using the radio, but when I kick in a CD, it cuts in and out- that speaker only. How can that be?

This most often indicates that there is an external amplifier in the system (your Bose amps), and that your receiver's power antenna wire is connected to the amp's remote turn-on lead. In other words, the Bose amp is only being turned on when the FM antenna is up.

To make sure, check your receiver's wiring harness to see if there are two different remote turn-on wires (normally Blue and Blue/White). If there are two, one is specifically for a power antenna and only works when the tuner is being used. The other is the remote turn-on for an amplifier and works whenever the receiver is turned on, regardless of the source selected.

If the receiver has two different remote turn-on wires, and one is connected but the other is not, simply reverse them.

Interesting...makes sense, except for the fact that only the left front has a problem with the CD...how does that relate to your suggestion? I mean, I understand what you are saying, but wouldn't that mean that all of the speakers wouldn't work right?

Not sure why that is. I was wondering that myself when I read your post.

Nonetheless, I'd check the wiring to see if the amp remote turn-on is the reason why your speaker only works correctly if you are using the tuner. Sounds like you've wired the amp turn-on remote to the antenna remote turn-on wire.

Yeah, anything is possible. My sister had the stereo put in when she was driving it, and I have no idea who she had do it. Anyway- thanks for the help- I'll check it out.
