Question for a friend that's gonna run 2 800 watt RMS subs

Specifically what amp specs should he be looking for? Would he have to run a yellow top optima battery? What about a farad cap? Also could he get by on the stock alternator? Thanks in advance. BTW he has a 2001 honda accord coupe...

Sorry about the stupid questions. The car audio n00biness is in full effect...

They're Audiobahn 12" ABP12T subs. And i made a mistake. They are 400 watt RMS each.

Sensitivity: 103 db
Impedence: 4 ohms
Frequency response: 25Hz-140Hz
Box dimensions: 14.5"H x 30.5"W x 15"D
Box type: ported

Thanks in advance

ok so im assuming they are svc 4 ohm so you need about 600 watts @ 2 ohms for these subs. do you know what frequency the box is tuned at?

Nah. There's no way to tell. So all he needs is a 300x2 watt @ 2 ohm amp? What else does he need to upgrade?

This is what he was looking at...

He wants a decent mix of bump and sound quality. BTW he's only adding subs, no component speakers. And the budget is around $500 for box, subs, and amp.

No, he's not installing it himself. He has a friend that knows his **** that'll do the wiring. And the wiring isn't included in the $500. What do you suggest for the money?

2 12" subs in a sealed box with about 600 watts.
if you go the prefab route check out bigdogaudio on ebay.... hes actually in miami and has good prices for a box. for an amp a jbl600.1 will be fine or any decent name brand amp that puts out 600 watts. for subs you could check out some adire audio shivas... $125 a piece shipped. so that would be 250 for subs.. about 300 with a box. so you have around $200 for an amp. now lets say you get this setup you need the 600 watts rms to be at 2 ohms. the jbl600.1 does 600 @ 2 ohms and can be had for under $200. this is about my exact setup... but i havent got my shivas in yet.

heres what i suggest:

two 12" audiobahn aw1251t subs along with a audiobahn a8002t amp in a sealed box

a lot of people bash on audiobahn on these forums but honestly the bass is very crisp and those two subs are enough to make you deaf

oh, and you can't beat the price

Well, my take on audiobahn is that they are more show than go and they overrate all of their products. That is not to say that they don't perform well, but for the price, you can get MUCH MUCH better stuff.

Looking at that box and enclosure, you could do so much better. Can you build a sealed box? Do you have the tools available? If so...go to http://www.edesignaudio.com/combo and look at combo #1. One of these woofers paired with the amp for $220 will outperform just about anything that audiobahn can produce. If you need a box...got to http://www.thezeb.com/detail.aspx?ID=5358 and get a box for $50

its a good idea but i feel his friend will want a little more bass than that. if you get that setup go ported imo.... or just get 2 kv2's and seal em.
