Dead H/u??????????????
Dead H/u??????????????
I was listening to a CD today and the stock non-bose head unit just all of a sudden cut out while going over a bump; the H/U completly turned off. I was able to eject the CD but none of the other buttons worked. I also lost my clock, although the secuity light still blinks. And the buttons still light up when the headlights are on. I've already checked all of the fuses, both in the engine bay and under the dash -- all look ok. Just trying to get some ideas for when I start playing around with the connections (thinking that the bump shook something loose). Or does this just sound like a dead H/U? Any suggestions apprec.

i find that our non-stock units are very wierd. If you've got a 5th gen which I'm assuming you do, mine literally fried in my hands upon removal when upgrading. I'm no expert, but it's definitely not my first install and I really didn't do anything wrong. Smoke started coming out of the cd player and it wouldn't turn back on after that.
I checked the connectors today, but everything was plugged in. I just don't understand why my clock would go out as well. Does the radio supply power to the clock, are they even connected to e/o? BTW I have a 2001 non-bose Max.
I fried a fuse in my 3rd gen the other day and it took my clock and Hu with it. I replaced it and the clock worked, but the HU was kaput. Took it back and got a new one under warranty! For some reason the radio fuse didn't blow and neither did the 2 for the amp or the one on the hu. Weird.
