New Sub

I still have a stock Bose system, but plan on adding a 10" sub to it. Actually, while I speak, my aftermarket Headunit is being put in. I'm not too big on the audio side of things, but eventually I'd like to replace the whole system. Anyways, back to the 10". I'd like to get a 10" Kicker Sub [Square] and mount it facing into the car, where the trunk compartment door is. Then ride with it open all the time. My question is, would it not sound as good as it would if it was facing towards the trunk, as opposed to the interior of the car? Also, would it even be possible to mount it in that position? Personally, I feel it would produce better sound facing the interior and coming into the car and out the windows, but maybe not. Once again, I'm not too big at all on the audio side of things when it comes to Subs and Amps and outputs and sh*t like that. So any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes it is possible to do mount it facing the front of the car. I don't know if it sounds better but I have faced my 10" towards the front of the car with the trunk compartment door open. My friend said it was louder that way but I couldn't tell a difference. I thought it looked cool seeing the sub bouce when I looked back at it. Hope this helps some.

It will work just fine, you just want to be sure you have a good seal between the box and the seat back to seal the trunk off from the rest of the car. Basically you do not want the sound to go into car and trunk at the same time, that would cause cancellation and make it sound like crap.

Go to page 9 of this document for more info on bass cancellation:

from my experience, facing the sub(s) to the front of the car produced tighter bass. when they're aimed at the rear of the car, the bass had more boom to it, and was a bit louder.

Just a quick question.
Are two subs better than one?

ok, sealed or ported(don't know what size, I like the way bandpass boxes look but most people say its crap), one Pioneer Premier TS-W2000SPL or two Pioneer Premier TS-W105C.
I don't know much about audio.

are you building your own box? i think 1 12" sub in a sealed box with about 300 watts is what you want.
