I own a 2001 Max SE with the stock radio. I'm planning to have an audio expert install
a cd changer and a powered sub-wooofer. Need your advice............

Does anyone know of a 6 or 12 disc changer(other than the Clarion built for Nissan) available that will work with the stock (Clarion) radio(I don't want to use an fm modulator)? Also, JoeNissan had said the SE is pre-wired for a cd changer and the wires were hidded near the rear deck, I can't find them, would anyone know if the car is pre-wired?

Does anyone have any input on a powered sub? I'm looking at buying the Infinity Basslink or Bazooka RS10aHP? Any suggestions.

I'm assuming the rear speaker lines will be used to feed the sub(the infinity has line level inputs). Should I change the rear speakers(I don't want to add an additional amp)?

All your comments will be greatly appreciated. I will also post the same thread in the 5th Gen section.

CD Changer-

Not sure about the pre wiring but my 2000 SE wasn't cause we had the whole trunk apart and there were no spare wires, but if it was it would be in the left side under the carpet. For the actual changer buy the clarion on one from Dave at Southpoint Nissan or the other Nissan dealership that sells it. They sell it for around $250 if I remember and it will work with the radio without the fm modulator you were talking about.

Powered Sub-

I am not an expert on which one of these is going to perform the best, so its up to you on $, quality, power, size, etc. but in regards to upgrading your rear speakers the answer is it depends. If you were asking about upgrading your rear speakers (which are in the rear door, not the rear deck) becuase of running the high level input, the answer is no, its just the signal that the powered sub is getting. if you want better quality, upgrade all door speakers.

My .02, i'm out

The only changer that works with the stock radio is the OEM one. If not, you would have to go with an aftermarket headunit and changer. There was a post about the Basslink a little while back, and I too have seen it in a magazine, but have never heard it. I think that if the Basslink sounds good, then go ahead with it, cause then you wouldn't be fussing with other kinds of different wiring and stuff...unless of course you already know about audio equipment.

My 2000 SE was not prewired. The cable comes with the changer. I have seen other changers listed on the forum, do a search and they should show up.
