In-dash DVD player not playing DVD-R

I just got my Alpine IVA-D300 installed today and noticed that I get an ERROR message when I put in a DVD-R movie. These movies work fine in my home DVD player and computer.
Can anybody help? Thanks.

Does the owners manual say that it will support that type of disc? Most car audio will not support a recorded disc. Some will, but it must specify that it will.

The manual says it does support DVD-R format.

It could be the program you are using to burn the DVDs. I had the same issue when I switched players in my car. My first DVD player would just about play anytype of DVD, but when I switched, the new one would not play any of my previously burned DVDs. I switched to DVD Shrink and so far hav had good luck.

use dvd xcopy, works a lot better IMO, and is more straight forward. i have both regular and platinum edition, which lets you pick subtitles, languages, etc....
regular version just rips the movie, and nothing more, which ideally does less compression, cause no extras are added.

Bring it back to the shop you bought it from and have them replace it. I havent had any issues like that thus far....
