check the ground...make sure the screws that hold the whole console unit in place are still there, clean and tight

Dude I have the same exact problem. I went to the place where I bought the used car and the guy told me to try unplugging one of the battery connectors (I unplugged the positive) for a few minutes and plugged back in. The solution is a temporary quick fix because after a while the radio turns off. Another drawback is that you have to keep reprogramming your radio station dials.

Also does anyone know if there are any non-bose radios that work with bose speakers? I was told by a salesman no, but I think he just trying to make some more money on new speakers.

Let me know if you found another other alternatives.

you can get bose converters to use aftermarket HU with the stock bose amps and speakers. peripheral makes one ($60) and audio link makes another ($150). I have heard of ppl using the preamp outs on a new deck hooked to the stock amps.
