im looking to replace all of my speaker with now major moding, and that y i want to keep it to 6.5.

I have a pioneer headunit and was about to go with pioneer 3 way speaker all arround but then i heard that they had poor bass.

So what are the best sounding 6.5's with the best bass?

Also should i go like 4way speakers in the back, and 3 way in front or anything like that?

 

I just got some JL VR650's(not sure if the number is correct). They have a lot of base for a 6.5 speaker.

If you want the most bass from the 6.5" speakers, get components, preferably a 3-way set, so that the woofer only has to reproduce a limited frequency range. You might want to check out REaudio.com THey are supposed to be coming out with a component set based on their XXX series. The wooofer in the set is going have the XBL2 technology and be capable of some serious excursion

I know I'm going to start catching **** for this. But I've had nothing but good experiences with Memphis.

I did a comparison of Memphis and clarion b/c I was trying to decide what I wanted for my Maxima. Clarlion had the treble I wanted (considering i was putting subs in). But the Memphis had some really nice bass compared to the Clarion. For little 6.5, they hit pretty hard. And that's in a display room.

 

just a note...the sound from a display room will differ a bit than the sound you'll hear inside a car

 

Well DDDUUUHHHH, I haven't kept my self busy this long installing stereos without knowing that. But the display has more air to push than in a car.

The clarions I had installed hit a little harder than what they did on the display.

Point is, it seems that bigx wants some speakers with some sweet hitting bass.

And I've already had friends as if I put 8's or something in trunk. The clarions put off that much bass. So if the clarions could do that good, and the Memphis had better sounding bass. You do the math........

Just a note.... sry to sound rude, but only a complete car stereo newbie wouldn't know that a set of speakers sound diff on a display than in a car.

I'm pretty impressed by the bass from my CDT CL-61 components (Front door/A-pillar) and CL-6 Midbass (Rear doors)... Just put them in over the weekend on MDF spacers, no deadening or sealing of the door and they sound very nice off of a PG TI500.4 amp (75Wx4). Cheap too @ $149 for the comp set, $78 for midbass pair (thezeb.com). I was skeptical about the whole internet brand thing, but they really do sound excellent and are inexpensive. Once I sound deaden/seal the doors, I'm sure that they will sound even better. Not bad for the low end of their line.

Personally, I wouldn't go with anything other than midbass in the rears since I really like the higher soundstage. Although with my system, the vehicle is just filled with music... Cannot really tell where the sub bass or highs are coming from in the front seats.

I'd recommend going with a 3-way component solution for the best bass though, allows the midbass to reproduce more of the lower range while the midrange takes care of the higher frequencies that the midbass usually takes care of in a traditional 2-way system.

If you going all out and buying top of the line, make sure that they are installed properly. Poorly installed quality speakers = Poor bass and sound quality.

Not sure those Koda's could be door mounted though, as 3" is quite deep... The cl-6 (midwoofer in the comp set) is 2 13/16" and it is a fairly tight fit in the front on 1" spacers.

if you are talking about all the componets on one speaker like a coaxial design, then I would say that you won't necessarily get any better bass out of either. Your car has componets, stick with components. If price is an issue, go with something similair to the CDT set listed above. It is a good set for the money

 

it doesn't really matter if it's a 2-way or 3-way. i've heard some 2-ways that hit harder than 3-ways and vice versa. the only thing different between the 2-ways and 3-ways are the amount of drivers used. it really depends on the design of the speaker itself on how low it can play.

if you still need more bass, i'd look into getting a seperate subwoofer.

 

Okay I checked out these adire kodas you've been talking about for some time now. For a good interior setup. Would replacing just the mid-bass speaker in the front with the Koda 6 speaker or replace the whole component unit I have in the front? Then just replace the 3-ways I have in the rear with the Koda 6 mid-bass speaker?

 

I just put in my Infinity 6002i reference series a few weeks ago and I LOVE them. I think the bass is VERY good with no distortion whatsoever. So if you're not going for components, I think that's a good choice too and they run for about $50 a pair on ebay.
