JL Audio Subwoofers

I have a stealthbox and the subwoofer is blown. A 10w6 is hard to come across (they're discontinued). Are the new 10w3 just as good?

I believe the W3 handles less power, but the quality is still there. I think the W7 replaced the W6. You could always try ebay for a W6.

The W6 was replaced by the W6v2 and the W3 was replaced by the W3v2. The W3v2 handles about the same amount of power as the W6 speakers.

I was just wondering if he bought it from an authorized dealer and still had the receipt. He would have a 2 year warranty on it if so. Could have it replaced for free with a compatible woofer.

I got it off a guy here on the org back in March, but it was sitting in my garage until the other day, so I don't know if it was blown when he sent it to me or if it had something to do with sitting in the garage (I live in New England so the weather may have ****ed with it). Either way it's my fault for not checking. 10w6's are hard to come buy in good condition on eBay. Thanks tho.

I would replace it with a 10w3v2. What are you powering it with? Is it capable of a 2 ohm load instead of the 3 ohm load? If your amp is capable of a 2 ohm load, I would get the 10w3v2-D4, which can be had at a reasonable cost:

The JL Audio website gave me these specs for the amp: Rated Power:
250 W RMS @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm (11V-14.5V)

I am wondering if that sub would fit in the stealthbox though...

Does the 10w3v2 sound better than the 10w6?

I am pretty sure it would fit without a problem and it should sound better due to higher xmax and better sensitivity. Your amp is stable to 1.5 ohms so wiring it up will not be a problem.

This is what you want to buy. It will fit in your box no problem & will work perfect with the amount of power your amp produces. You more then likely do not want to purchase a 10W6v2 since the new design has a larger basket & will require either a new box or for you to modify the opening of your stealth enclosure. Also the 10W6v2 handles more power so it will not be as efficient as the 10W3v2 will be with the amount of power being supplied to it.

I haven't had a problem with mine except for a freak accident when the sub broke away from the tin speaker leads on the basket of the sub. I took it back to the dealer, and they charged me $15 for shipping the damaged one back to JL. Other than that I have no complaints. It handles music from Nickelback to Creed, to Metallica, to Outkast, to Trance.

The W6 in the stealthbox is a dual 6 ohm sub wired in parallel. Your amp can handle 1.5 - 4.0 ohm. You'll might have to wire it in series not sure, or see if you can exchange it for a 6 ohm sub.
