95 GLE Bose speaker size?
95 GLE Bose speaker size?
I finally just got a new Pioneer DEH-4600MP HU after my bose system has been mysteriously crapped out for a year, only to find that there is short somewhere other than the HU (as the trusted family mechanic had told me when the trouble arose). So now I have to get aftermarket speakers, which dosent bother me too much, seeing as i will just about kill someone for good sounding music in my beloved max. But after some exstensive manual searching (gg no more search) I have found that people have posted atleast 2 sizes for the front door and rear deck speakers. What are the sizes of each and do they have to be replaced at the same time (another post in the forums). Bose gurus please set the record straight for me! Thanks for any responses, as this is my first post.
Thanks,
Bryan

The speaker size for the front doors & rear deck is 6-3/4". Some 6-1/2" speakers will fit fine without any modifications. I am using 6-1/2" JL audio speakers & there were zero fitment issues. You do not have to replace all the speakers at once if you don't want to. I was running the stock bose speakers in the rear deck for over 1yr. before I decided to replace them. However you have to bypass the bose factory amp's. This is very easy to do, but it is alot simpler to just replace them with a better speaker. Do you plan on amplifing the speakers or just having the HU power them. Either way you are going to have to run new speaker wire.
