Security Issue . . .

I'm finally allowed to have my car on campus as a junior . . . I'm okay with leaving my car on campus ... it will be in a covered parking garage right next to my dorm...however I do not trust my car at all anywhere outside campus and I'm interested in upgrading the security...I think there may be a way to rewire the alarm to make it more sensitive (if tires etc played with it will go off) . . if there are any security upgrades that you are aware of for around or under $200 I would be very interested...thanks for any input.

You can add a shock sensor to the factory alarm. But I just recommend you getting a 2-way alarm like I have.

The Viper 791 is the best IHMO.

You can have remote start on a stick...and it wont be the ghetto way wired to the e-brake. There is a wire on the ECU that tells the car whether it is in gear. You need to diode isolate it and ****, and tap into that wire for the alarm, so that when you start it with the remote, it only works in neutral, but with the key in the ignition, you need to press the clutch.

There is a guy in Orlando who has done a bunch of alarms this way, he has a full write up of how to install the 791 in a 5th gen so it will work like i just said, and he is in the process of the write up for the 4th gen. His website is http://maxima.theowensfamily.com. There will be a bunch of links, go to the alarm one and youll find the 5th gen write up. The 4th gen one should be up in a few weeks. His site is down right now thanks to Hurricane Charley, but it will be back soon.

My advice...find someone who knows Viper alarms very well and you trust, give them the write up once its posted, and let them go to town.
