The '91 Maxima I just bought has a Sony CDX-U300 (I think) 10-disc changer in the trunk. There's a little display on a wire that comes into the cabin, and a remote.

The thing won't play any CD's. It works fine otherwise. If I try to play a CD in any of the slots, it'll find the CD, try to load it, and then just say "ERROR" on the display. The original Bose head unit is not installed. It's some Pioneer thing. But, I don't think it has anything to do with the problem.

Any ideas? I have no intention of buying a replacement if this one is toast, but if I can get it working that's cool.

check the CD and make sure there are no scratches. see if the CD plays in other CD players.

 

I tried a bunch of CD's. All are in excellent working shape, and play in any other player I stick them in.
