What happens if you mix the polarity?

What happens if you mix the polarity?

Just wondering? i might have done this. I get this hissing/spark kinda noise... cant be good. i think i might have switched the negative and postive wire... dont know for sure...

can someone also provide me a link/picture of 2k1 non-bose wiring diagram..thx

it will throw off the time alignemnt of the sound as some of the speakers will be out of phase.

After initial install you should always try changing polarity (thus changing phasing) to find what sounds best. Often times, a car audio system will sound best with 1/some speakers out of phase due to pathlength differences.

I have no idea why your getting noises, though.

running them out of phase will not hurt anythign. Will just make it sound like ****. You should never run the front or rear stage out of phase. Only the sub depending on how long your car is. Soemtimes it's beter in phase, sometimes out of phase. Also the slope of your crossover will make a difference.

maybe it is engine noise?? running power and speaker wire too close?? just a thought.

That would be RCA's too close to speaker wire, from my personal experience (unfortunately)

I have and do run speaker wire next to power with NO negative effect and know of plenty that do the same. If it was alt wine, though, it would happen no matter what the phasing is. I have noidea

my rca wires are running opposite from the power wire.. so that is not my concern..

Can someone please email me with the wiring diagram fro 2k1 non-bose headunit.. i'll even take a bose one if you got it. i looked all over and can not find it.
