Stock vs. Aftermarket

I was previously planning on getting a system, but I been needing money for many other things, including an APT. So with that being said, what do you think would be better/clearer/louder. Keeping stock Bose speakers and with aftermarket headunit or to switch to good aftermarket speakers (most like Infinitiy, Kicker or Polk) and bypass the amps. Right now, stock setup wise it sounds fine except for the loudness. It ain't close to as loud it was when I had the Stock Bose Headunit in...Any info/thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

just my $.02, i never liked the Blose but some people do. for better/cleaner/louder, i would switch out everything, including the stock headunit, and run amps to the new speakers. Also IMO, using any headunit power to run speakers will not sound better than running discrete amps.
