help picking amps for my system.
Hello guys. I'm in the process of upgrading my system. So far i have a Clarion DXZ850 i believe Head Unit, I bought some CDT Components from the zeb, and i'm planing on getting either one 10" or 2 10" Alpine Type R subs and mounting them facing the front of the car. This is going to be my first system, so i'm not really familiar with the amplifier manufacturers. I've read good things about the jbl amps. So i was thinking about getting a JBL PX600.2 amp, the type r's can handle 300W RMS and this amp puts out 300x2 wats @ 2ohms. and then i need a 2 channel amp for my front components which i believe are rated 90RMS@4Ohms. I think JBL has an amp that puts out 90x2 RMS. Have any of you had experience with JBL amps, how reliable are they? Or could you suggest a better amp that's in thet price range, and that would work with my components.
I'm also planning on building a false floor, so i would like the amps to look similar if that's possible for esthetic reasons. So basically i'm asking for suggestions on what brand of amps i should look at. Thank You!

The JBL's are decent amps for the money, so they would work fine. You seem to be "thinking" right for a car audio newbie.
Keep in mind that you could also look for a high power 4 channel amp as well and use 2 channels for the CDT's and bridge the rear channels for the sub(s), though I guess two different amps allows for a lil more flexibility.
There's too many "decent" amps out there to list, but I would certainly put the JBL's in them. They should work well for your application.
On top of that, remember dampening your car/trunk/doors and sealing your doors! That is money well spent!
Good luck!

Sealing the door is essentially part of the door dampening process...After dampening the inner door skin very well (inner door skin meaning once your door panel is off, dampen through the holes to the inside of the outside of your door). After that, use deadening to cover up all of the holes that would allow air to pass from inside the door out into the cabin. For the big hole towards the back of the door, I'd use a few layers, put the metal strip back on with screws, then connect the dampening from that metal piece to the dampening that you sealed that hole with. this way, your dampening material won't go flapping around. Remember, your door is serving as an enclosure. If lots of air can easily get from that enclosure (the back of the speaker) to the cabin (front of the speaker) you loose impact (liek building a sub box and having a big hole in the back that isn't a port would severely hurt the amount of bass that speaker could produce).
This site isn't allowing me to post poictures. I'll see if I can get you a link or if I get around to putting pics on my website, I'll give a link.
I hope this makes sense.
Again, as others have said, I think the setup you're talking about is great. I wish my first system years and years ago was as good as yours.

Go to below the pics of my dog. This pic is of after doing the inner skin like I talked about, after two layers or sealing. I then re-attached that metal piece that I was talking about. This pic is before putting on a few more layers (I got carried away with dampening/sealing cause I think it imporves a system sooooo much) and attaching that metal piece to the dampening below it with more dampening. Also, it is obviously before attaching the baffle. However, the door even as it is shown there, is well sealed.
Hope this helps.

ok, thanks alot for the info. I should get my speakers on monday, and i'm probably gonna try to pick up some dampening material tomorrow after work. So would two layers on the inside and two on the outside be enough? Also did you do anything to the part where the speaker mounts?
