Potential problem for Eclipse CD8454?

I have an Eclipse CD8454 installed in my car and I just noticed that when I open the face to eject the cd or memory card, the mechanism opening the face is touching the bottom of the American Internation dash kit. The deck can open far enough to get the memory stick out, but I know for sure that it isn't opening all the way. I can't imagine this being any good for the mechanism, especially since I am jumping from cd to cd every few days. Anyone have better luck with a different dash kit?

I can post pics if needed.

Thanks in advance.

Buy the 2k/2k1 GXE Dash Kit. It comes with the vents all together.

Here is an idea of how far the radio opens:

Just enough to take the memory stick out

See where it is catching:

I didn't notice at all. It isn't causing any problems for me, but I dont want to be hurting my radio at the same time. Can anyone confirm that the radio clears the metra kit?

How much is the gxe dash kit? My next move for this radio is to do a stealth install which I plan on doing myself. It will involve moving the entire dash kit assembly back about 1/2 inch, so perferably, I would not like it to be attached to the a/c vents.

I have the Metra kit. Don installed it for me. I have no problems. You might want to try installing the deck a little forward. It might be sitting to far back.

Edit: After checking my radio, mine opens up the same amount. I think thats how the deck was built.

Can you look at the bottom and make sure it isn't touching the dash kit? Thanks.
