More Problems

it seems that everything is wired up fine checked everything over like 6x but the amp MTX 801d still reads as if there is a problem with a red LED

pwr, ground.? can the amp get an overload from the headunit? it happened to me when i installed my head unit with the remote wire. the amp was gettin too much power when i connected the remote wire, it just turned red. then again i dont know much bout electronics

ok it could be, ground wire is not secured, the voltage goin into the remote is too low, the system employs too many amplifiers you may need a relay, the speaker outputs are shorted,

why would amp come on if the ground was bad

tell you the truth my boy put in my head unit, u know what u should do, take the remote wire and tie it on the audio fuse under the steering wheel and see what happens

the amp would stil come on with no ground at all it happened to me and thats how i blew my first amp bad ground, well lol no ground but do the thing with the remote wire

if the remote wire was bad than th amp LED shouldnt come on at all i would think

no if the remote was bad the amp is still getting power from the batt

What exactly is happening.....ur amp is just going into protective mode?(red light coming on) if that's the case then redo ur ground.....the fastest way of checking if u have a good ground is :
1. disconnect the REM wire from HU
2. on the amp connect the REM wire to 12V
3. leave the ground as it is now

IF the amp still goes into protective mode check the power wire for any cuts etc. if u can, do an continuity test on the wire itself.

one more thing........on almost all never amps the amp will not turn on if ur RCA are busted.....check into that too

if u could say what excactly is happing to amp(did ur amp work before etc etc) that woudl be really helpfull
