Battery in the trunk, how does it charge

I wanted to know, if i was to put a battery in the trunk for a system, what wires would i have to run to charge it, how does it charge anyway?

It charges the battery the same way it does the front, just run pos and neg to the second batt

you want to add a second battery? if so, you have to also hook up a battery isolator so that the batteries are electrically seperated and do not discharge each other due to slight voltage differences. also, you are taxing a weak factory alternator by adding a second battery.

Like posted above I wouldnt Add a battery and keep the stock alt. If your moving the current battery, there is only a need for one wire to be run (Power) preferably 0Aw due to the length.

That the thing i was looking for, battery isolator. As for the charging, cant i just run a + and ground the - on the strut bolt or will it be too much? Ill get a new alternator. I think im going to need a second yellow top because im going to have 2 W7s in the trunk. I was told to only get one but i dont want to listen to it full blast so I rather get two.

dude you only need one w7... seriously I have heard that in a good box that is all you need. I have a small infinity 12 inch and that is even enough.

Check this thread. One of our 6th gen members just added a single 12w7 to his car. Contact him and see if he thinks a single 12w7 is enough. I'm thinking like Intel, that two are going to be a lot. Also, if you do go with two of them, I still don't think you're going to need to add a second Yellow Top if you already have one.

Just in my opinion would rather have one w7 and a very good amp.. and spend the rest of the money on getting the trunk rattle free. Becuase that is what you are going to be fighting the most with that crazy sub and just a general lack of space if you go ported box. (I think ported is recomended with that sub but I am mostly into SQ subs)

Im adding a 4 channel 600W Xtant amp and i have a stealthbox with a M500 Alpine amp, I dont blast the music at all. You think my current yellow top and a 1 farad stinger cap will be enough?

the wattage really doesn't matter if you are not going to be blasting it. if you keep the volume at a moderate level. you should be fine. that is of course if you are getting a battery isolator (some call it a solenoid, in reality it is a high current relay), and everything is hooked up properly. the cap should help to stabilize the voltage and filter out whatever AC ripple, if any at all, is present.

you don't need a second battery unless you plan on playing your radio with the car off for extended periods of time. Save your money and go for a bigger alternator.

BTW, 1 w7 in a maxima is plenty. If you don't agree, change the battery in your hearing aid!

what awg wire should i get to run upto 1500W, usually i will only top it out at 500W though. Is it necessary to get 1/0, 2 or is it ok to just get 4?
