Hey, hows this idea for my car?
Hey guys, I have a question on my car's audio, just want to know what the best thing to do for my situation.
Ok, I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE. The thing that bothers me, is that whenever I play CDs really loud, just for the fun of it, it sounds horrible. The audio equipment in the car is all stock, I dont have the Bose option on it, and I have the CD/Cassete/AM/FM head unit, and the stock speakers.
The thing is, I don't want to change my head unit. I really like the look of the head unit, and was wondering if there was any alternatives to making the music not crackle. I was also told that the easiest thing to do in this case (from friends) is that I should get a new head unit and that most times the stock speakers in the cars are underpowered. Could this be true? If thats the case, would getting an amplifier help power my stock speakers and allow me to keep the stock headunit and keep the music playing crystal clear when I blast it at full volume? Or do I have the wrong idea of what an amplifer does or can do?

I had a bigger system before and this is what I got left (I sold it with my car) and since it looks cool I installed it again.
I really don't need them for this set up but why let it catch dust.
Ok guys, a friend of a friend is selling a sony xplod amp 750watt 4 channel for $65 with all the wires. I plan on getting it. The only thing is, in my stock head unit, how hard is it to locate the REM? I just want to have my amp running everytime the radio on, is all. And also, will i damage my stock speakers if i turn the volume up all the way with this amp activated?

no its not hard to locate the REM with a simple test light will do. when the car is off you will notice that one wire will turn on the test light. when the car is on you will notice that two wires turn on. well the one that wasn't on the first time thats your REM.
the HI-LO. is an adapter that will allow you to run an amp with the stock HU real simple to install. it just makes RCA outputs so that you can run the amp with better sound. go to your nearest audio shop an ask for one.
