People who has replaced their stock antenna

Has anyone replaced their stock antenna because of really poor reception. My radio is all static-ie and at some times it's near impossible to hear. I checked my connection in the trunk to the antenna and it seems to be fine. Maybe I should replace the antenna?

fourth gen antenna is not only too great (unless it is my ride) but they are huge. Looks like a R/C car. Anyway I too am looking for a solution, more low key, and better signal.
