right now i have a 4ohm sony xplod dp1300 amp that pushes out 200rms. i want something around the 400ish range to 500 tops rms. i dont want to spent that much. i went to my audio store and they had this little *** alpine amp, 700x2 i think. and it pushes out 350rms at 2ohms. are alpine amps as good as there hu's? and i asked her about rockford amps and she said they get hot quick at 2ohms. neways im looking for a good amp that pushes around 400rms thanks

I would look into one of the new Nine.2 amps from Elemental Designs. Here is the link
http://www.edesignaudio.com/edamps.htm

Also, JBL and HiFonics amps can be found on ebay fairly cheap and they are good quality.

Kicker good...

Look for a used/refurbed ZR360, or even a ZR240...both highly underrated, clean and more durable than Hugh Hefner's pecker...Manny knows

the ZR360, for instance is rated at around 360 watts bridged to a 4 ohm load, but they consistently put out closer to 500-700 watts, and always with = or lower than listed S/N ratio and %THD....usually greater than 107 dba...look for a "birth certificate"...it's the actual bench test performed by Kicker....it lists the actual ratings for the specific amp...hope this helps....

btw....

to answer your original question....yes alpine makes good amps...as long as you get the proper amp...look for the underrated old "Expert" series...they need 14.4V to perform at their peak, bu they are great when they do, and clean as a whistle...look for an old MRV-T757, rare amp but sweet...I have had poor experience with xplod amps, and think they got that name for a reason, not marketing....but I hope you have better luck....BTW what are you trying to push and what H/U do you have...what AWG wire to amp...and what power upgrades if any do you have?

i have the new alpine head unit, i am not running the rcas from my hu to the amp, but rcas from my rear bose to the amp. i duno if its my amp or what, but my amp doesnt play loud when i run it from my hu. i am pushing a kicker cvr 2ohm sub that is running at 4ohms right now.

? 2 ohm sub, svc or dvc...amp bridged or not...or is it mono?...rcas from rear bose?....one potential problem is that the bose speakers use a balanced line, 1 ohm input and are indivdually amped if I'm not mistaken...and which Alpine H/U?....run from H/U to amp...should at least eliminate some possible confounding problems....DO THIS FIRST....Alpine H/U will have higher output voltage (depending on model), but will undoubtedly give youmore head room and power with your amp...then we can deal with the sub wiring...if any of this seems wrong to anyone, let me know...let's get this guy's/girl's (trying not to be sexist) tunes sounding right....

thanks btw im a guy. the sub is a dual 2ohm dvc and only works at 4ohms when i take out the wire that makes it run parallel it does not play at all. my hu is cdm9823. i have a sonyxplod ds1300p5 mono amp. now this is my 2nd hu and does not play as loud as my rcas from the rear bose. when i have the rca from the hu to the amp it plays reallly low, like u cant even hear it, this was with my previous hu also. everything was setup right and it still plays low from the rcas from the hu. thats why i keep the rcas from the hi low adapter to the amp.

you are confused about wiring the sub. when i gave it to you it was wired for 4 ohms. the only other way to wire it would give you one ohm which i told you your amp cannot handle, so what are you doing to my sub? lol

get a new amp, or get a new speaker, or another of the same dual 4 ohm voice coil configuration and wire it for a two ohm load...best bet, get a new amp, IMHO
