single sealed 10" sub setup for pure SQ!

All I desire is SQ! I have the bose now and will be getting a new HU and possibly new interior speaks (will run off HU) or will use bose speaks. I want to REMOVE the bose sub and put a single 10" sub in a sealed box (no bigger than 1cu. ft). I have rear deck rattles and don't want those anymore. I am planning on dynamating the liscence plate and the rear deck to stop the rattles. I am thinking about a alpine type E 10" and an alpine amp running only 140W rms. Since I won't have the interior speaks amped and I only want SQ I think this would be enough boom. Does anyone have any input on this matter? Is this enough power for nice and tight bass that is not overpowering compared to the interior speaks? I would really like a few opinions. I am also thinking I will mount this sub facing up just under the factory bose sub location (that will be empty and work as a port into the cabin). Thanks as usual guys.

what's your budget? I'd get a Adire Koda 10" ($229).

Soundsplinter RL-i 10". It's built on the TC Sounds TC2+ motor which un-seated the Peerless XLS as the lowest distortion driver on the market. measurements

My Max didn't come with the bose system (thankfully). This is what I just added FYI. Alpine MRD-M301 $160 and a Kicker Solobaric 10" for about $180. I built the "ported" box myself for a $20 sheet of MDX and some labor.

For my purpose its perfect. Sound quality is outstanding and has enough bass to vibrate the entire car. Much more bass than I was expecting. I need to take some pics though, maybe I"ll do that this morning and post them up.....

IDQ 10" or ARC V2 10", Alumapro Alchemy Mx 10"- some of the best SQ subs IMO and well under $200

How do the brahma's compare to the IDQ's? Looking for pure SQ, not booming bass.

infinity reference isn't bad, they fall apart though, know that first hand. just looking for something to fill in the low end, throw a infinity basslink in, for 299 they get the job done, plus they are a bit over a foot wide and about 8-9 inches wide. perfect for what your asking if you ask me. put them in many cars, sound great.

well since i work in circuit city roadshop, i would recommend the mtx mxs1204 for clean pure sound, along with alpine's. but for what this guy wants, an infinity basslink would sound great and get the job done for him. the problem with the infinity reference is theyre made from eggshell plastic, which like the name cracks like an egg. weve had so many on display have to be replaced, and those aren't even exposed to the elements an installed one would.

Infinity drivers also suck w/ those eggshell cones they've been using for years- I had a pair in the rear deck of my beater car years ago and within 4months on summertime heat a finger touch of the cone would crackle it into pieces....and they are still selling these POS

The best choice would be an Oz audio 10" 250L sub. These were the benchmark for SQ in the 90s and are still imo not unseated

The Infinity Perfect 10's I had were an excellent SQ speaker. Too bad they got damaged when the grill came off. Any input on the IDQ 10's?

They can do both...at the same time if you wish 140db+ while hitting every beat dead on. Seal em up if you want pure SQ, your still not going to be dissapointed.

The Kodas arnt quite as monstrous, but one of the best SQ subs on the market to say the least. XBL_2 is quite a difference maker that sets it apart from many.

higney85: In all honesty, save up and get something good. Your gonna end up wanting the one you "should" have gotten and spending more $ in the long run.

Oz Audio is way underrated IMO. So many people completely overlook them because they're not bling bling and overpriced. Good choice!!

Higney...there's lots of good advice in this thread. Remember, when it's all said and done, your quality and method of installation is WAY more important than your subwoofer selection.
