Problems w/ my setup help..

Ok, i have the stock system bose headunit etc. I also have a Alpine type-r 10 in the trunk with a 480watt sony explode amp hooked up to the existing system. I have this little switch witch can turn the bass on and off. The sony amp is hooked up for the 10 and its all wired good with good wiring. Only problem is after about 5-10minutes of bass with my sub turned on the sub cuts in and out. I cant figure out what the problem is someone help please?!?!

Do you have a safety feature that turns off your amp when it gets too hot? It could be overheating.

thats most likely whats happening.. next time it happens try powering off your head unit (and thus powering off the amp) for a few minutes, that should take care of it

What impedance is the sub running at? Most likely your problem. Also if the amp is mounted without sufficent ventilation in higher climate areas it could very well overheat in a short amount of time....

i currently moved the sub from under the passenger seat to where it was getting No air and prob over heating im guessing. I mounted it to the top of my box so it shuld be getting plenty of ventilation. Where is a good spot for my ground? It shouldn't overheat in the trunk now im hoping.

what Pearl96Max is asking you is wether your sub is 4 or 8 ohms, or if it is a dual voice coil sub. I'm not sure what amp you have, but if it is a 2-channel amp, most likely the best way to run it is bridged, with a four ohm impedance, if your impedance is lower (ex. 2 ohms) your amp will overheat.

Your amp may be overheating. Is it in a tight confine?

going "all out" and Best Buy doesn't really go hand in hand
