Fit in my 96 max se w/ bose. I'm worried that the tweeters won't fit in the factory tweeter spots on the front pillars. Will they fit there or will they have to be put somewhere else?

The installer I use tells me that he will have no trouble installing my MB Quart component 1" tweeters in the stock location of my 2001 Max. I had the Boston Pro Series separates previously and there is little physical size difference between the tweeters in both component sets. I would not expect you to have any trouble at all installing the Boston Pro Series tweeters in the stock mounting locations in the A-pillars of your Max. Just as a disclaimer though, my installer tends to say "no problem" to things that are pretty difficult.

My installer says that it sounds better when the tweeters are attached to the speakers instead of placed seperately in the stock location. Something about harmonics and how far the tweeters are to your ear. Can someone further elaborate?

The phenomenon is due to time alignment and how both the tweeter and midbass interact and present the soundstage. If your tweeters are positioned close to your ears they will sound brighter than they would down closer to the midbass. It's a choice that some prefer and some don't. I personally don't prefer it except if I'm adding separate tweeters to raise the stage height....

im running all Eclipse 6.5 components in my car. I have the tweeter flush mouted in the front door's right near the door handle. To me it sounds just as good as if the tweeter was mounted next to the woofer.
