Best buy overpriced?

I went to best buy tonight to see how much it would cost to rip my whole bose system out of car, and replace all the door speakers, with a new 4 channel amp and they want 393 bux! can i get this done at a local shop cheaper, thats way to steep.

If you go down the DIY route, it is going to take a lot of work. Give it a go, or I'm sure you have friends with the know-how...ask them to help. I'll have to agree with the other posts....keep the blue shirts away from your car.

don't do it man!!! they're gonna rip you off. I paid $250 for Bose removal, installing new HU, amp, speakers, sattelite tuner, sattelite antenna, amp for the sub and sub itself. It sounds amazing. The whole job was done right in front of me. Of course I had an option to leave them a car, but I just wanted to see how it works, so that next time I'll do everything myself. I don't think I overpaid a penny. It was really a lot of fun. And also think, how much you system costs. If you pay 300 for the whole system, I don't think it's worth spending the same amount for the installation...

2 Da Max you charge more to install a head unit then an amp? Seems pretty backwards to me.

blackmax01, do you have Bose in your car? I am an installer at the Gainesville Circuit City and have done tons of maximas, my mom and I both have 5th gens, hers has bose and mine doesnt, ive messed with both and know 5th gen audio like the back of my hand.

As I said Im in Gainesville but my parents are in Palm Harbor so I'm back in the Tampa area regularly. What equipment were you looking at getting at Worst Buy?

Let me know how much you want to spend and what you are looking to get, IM on AIM at kpr10is and I can give you a lot of info depending on your price range, because chances are I might forget to check this thread back.

393 for labor alone? That sucks. Circuit City would do 50 for cd player parts, 85 for 4 channlel amp and 70 for all 4 speakers. 205.

on the avg you shouldn't pay more than $75-$100 for amp installation
and $30-$40 to replace each pair of speakers
The cost of RCA's and amp wiring kit ARE ADDITIONAL

Best buy installations are garbage. Install it yourself, i did all my speakers, amps HU, tweeters, XM in my car. ...www..sounddomain.com.. buy it from there, install it yourself. just make sure you ground it night and tight.
