I'd recommend a set of CDT Audio 61-T's. These are 6.5" components with .75" titanium tweeters. Right now, thezeb.com has them on sale for $149.95 a pair. I can't even begin to tell you how pleased I am with the performance of these components. They are normally in the range of $350-450 per set retail, however thezeb.com has a shipment of these components in where the basket paint color is slightly different, so CDT Audio unloaded these sets to the online stores at discounted prices.

I ordered a set for my brother's xterra back in sept, I was extremely pleased with the results. He is currently the front components on a PPI PC275 and it sounds nice for a set of components. I've had varying sets of components throughout the years and am really satisfied with what these provide in terms of both highs and midbass. I would rate them higher than a set of boston acoustic pro series, as I've had numerous sets of those before moving onto these CDT's.

Also, after hearing the CDTs I purchased a pair for my '00 max and have them installed in the doors. Just tonight, I ordered an additional set which will be housed in custom kickpanels up front. I'm currently running a PPI PC450 on my components and a set of the 6.5" CDT coaxials in the rear doors.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

I'm also for CDT. I got ef-61 {carbon fiber}for $205 shipped.
Buy them thru thezeb or an authorized dealer. I bought mine from this guy on AIM djdilliodon. He has the best prices.

For under $300- having heard and installed a good amount of sets in both 4th gen and 5th gen Maximas-
I would have to say for a set with a metallic dome tweet the Diamond CM3 components are a superb value and is among the more pleasant aluminum domes
I've heard, and I'm a strongly partial to a fabric tweet- the mids on this set are superb, and whats nice is this set is a convertible(crossover built on the back of the driver- makes install a snap, and the tweet can be mounted onto the woofer for exellent on axis response if desired-
On a silk tweet set- hands down the Rainbow Soundline are amazing- Rainbow is very highly regarded around the world and people compete with them- that being said(install
considerations/arguments aside) back in June 04, it beat the Focal Utopia($900 set) by 3 SQ points in the Spain IASCA SQ finals

What does that say? not saying it sounds better than Utopias(that would be subjective), but they are a kick *** set of components, and are very capable of offering world class sound
Here's link to more SLC wins......European finals, and IASCA Madrid Nov 04....

McAlert would agree, as he runs them in his car- for the price they are a top choice IMO

CDT's are good, big hype because they are cheap and all- but of all the sets they offer the HD's are best, yes including over the Eurosports- the sound diff in non existant for the price difference

Strongly urge you to get out to some shops a get to listen to some, before buying
