So which one did you get? The Audiovox SIR-PNP2, or the Clarion SIRPNP? And why? Which is better? These work by sending out an FM signal correct? Is that pretty distortion free? Could I do it without signing up for a year so I could try it out? Thanks alot...this is looking great.

I got the Audiovox PnP2, it arrived Monday. I will install it this weekend.

I haven't heard of issue regarding static. Check out sirisbackstage.com you may find out more about these types of things there. GLA

No, haven't got any promo's for tuners, yet, just PnP's for now. Also, I noticed that when you sign for a year you get 2 month's free.

The offer expires December 31, 2004.

I will keep an eye open for tuners.

I read someplace that the "digital quality" sound isn't any better than regular FM radio. Does this seem to be true? Also how about reception? Have you lost it at any point so far? Under what conditions? Thanks alot. This looks like it may be on my christmas list.

Terran - "I read someplace that the "digital quality" sound isn't any better than regular FM radio. Does this seem to be true?"

Not from my vantage point. Sound quality is better by far, than FM, plus, there are no annoying commercials. Listening to Sirius for the first time made me wonder why I hadn't switched over earlier. Sirius is for adults...try it and you will see what I mean.

"Also how about reception? Have you lost it at any point so far? Under what conditions?"

First off, my antenna is mounted on my dashboard, so it's inside of my car. This is not factory recommended for optimum results.

The only drop outs that have occured were during a very bad rain storm and underneath my carport. IMO, these isolated instances could've been because of the location of my antenna. Still, I would not trade that for the (6) or so FM radio stations in my area.

OT: After our Thanksgiving dinner I went on a long ride, just to enjoy the tunes on my Sirius. I have never done that before... Also, I can't wait to get in the car and drive to and from work. Sirius is a unique experience, I feel like a kid in a candy store, music, talk, sports, etc. galore!

I used to hate traveling during the holidays, because I would miss all of the NBA games. Now I can't wait until its time to travel during the holidays all the NBA games will be on Sirius.

Let me stop here because I know I good just go on and on, but you get the point.

GL, Happy Thanksgiving!

Sounds great.

[sitting on santa's lap]For christmas I would like...[/sitting on santa's lap]

Do you have any suggestions as far as those three tuners? I'm leaning towards the XACT because of it's ability to be a portable unit.

Out of those three I believe the Kenwood is sold out, PNP2 is gone as well. So, you only have two other free ones to choose from, the Clarion and the XACT. Out of those two, I would choose the XACT.

The XACT has the latest technology.

If I were buying new I would be debating between the PNP3 and the new Kenwood, but that's me. The Blapunkt (spelling) looks good, as does the JVC and Sanyo.

I saw the Sanyo at Walmart today on my drive... It looks much smaller in real life than in pictures. They had it with home and car docking kits for around $145.00.

Honestly, I really like the Audiovoxx PNP but this is because I haven't used any of the others. Lookswise the PNP3, Kenwood, Sanyo, Blapunkt (spelling). You can't go wrong with any one. Also, keep in mind whether or not you plan on using a boombox, etc. this could limit your choice of PNP. GL

oooh, Sirius still offers the lifetime subscription too. at $500, that's like buying 4 years, get forever else free.

I'm liking the XACT. antenna looks nice. hope it's as small as the mini one. Wish I could see some models in person first.

So for the price of installing factory Sirius in my Max before sub. fees, I can now have portable Sirius for life?!?! plus the orange backlight matches my interior backlights. gotta love the free online account too.

oh yeah, Sirius just got NCAA BBall too!

I belive the lifetime subscription is only valid on one piece of hardware...meaning if you decide to upgrade your reciever in the future or it breaks/gets lost, you are sol.

I just ordered my receiver for the car and got the car and home kit for around $50 less than the same thing would have cost at either Best Buy or Circuit City. Great deal if you are considering this.

DaBoxSE - You're good, just click box 3 (existing customer), should go through without any problems...

As I mentioned earlier, if that doesn't work, give Sirius a call.

"will I be able to pay monthly when I activate the system?"

No, your getting "free" equipment. If Sirius gave away free equipment without subscription... On the other hand, if your referring to once your other subscription ends, I do believe they will allow you to go month to month, give Sirius CS a call.

Why do you want to go month to month? Its cheaper (1 month free) & easier to pay the entire year or subscribe to the lifetime deal, never pay again.

P.S. Lifetime subscription promotion will end June 2005.

I guess I was assuming I could just add the additional subcription to my existing one. Its not too much of a problem to pay the new subcription in full, its just easier to have it all under one charge and payment schedule. I've been a subcriber since March '03 and I love it...
