xm roady 2 installed....but have 1 issue.

got my roady 2 installed last month so i could listen to Opie and Anthony again. Love the unit cause of its size. The only issue i have is that when i accelerate hard there is a whistling sound when i have my sat. radio on. The harder i accelerate the louder the whistling sound is. I am guessing its a install issue, but has anyone encountered this before?

I'm not sure what it is but I have the same thing when my in dash TV is on. It sounds like wind is getting in through a window that is cracked open or something. I always wondered if I could make it stop. Probably some frequency ****.

either alternator whine problem or you need to try grounding it somewhere else..

Opie and Anthony are awesome. I saw them this past Saturday along with Jim Norton, Rich Vos and Jim Breuer. Awesome show.

They're still around? That's awesome. I remember when they got canned from WAAF (in Boston) for saying somebody (the mayor I think) was dead as an april fools joke. Are they only on XM? Oh man, Opie & Anthony or Stern...now I don't know if I should get Sirius or XM eventually.

Move your ground....to a factory ground location if possible as those are the best. This should fix it.

Yeah they went on the air on XM radio on Oct 4th, channel 202. You have to pay an additional $1.99 a month but they are pretty much the only reason I got XM. Stern I guess is going to Sirius in a little over year or so.(but who cares)
O&A got canned in Boston for telling their listeners the mayor died and got canned in NYC for having a contest where listeners would have sex in public plaes and one couple had sex in St. Patties cathedral, it was all down hill from there for them.

take it back to CC and make them pull it and give you a 100% refund, then go to BB and get it installed right the first time

my e-**** is bigger than yours

anyway, back on topic, they will not charge you to fix whatever is wrong with it but they cannot give you a refund for labor that has already been performed. good luck

I know you can hardwire the roady 2 with some adapter but i have come to find out that it isnt out yet. Was going to hardwire cause i live in NYC and there is enough static to warrant it. If i hardwire the roady 2, do you think it may help with the whistling sound or is it just the ground?

Who the he|l told u this???

First off, to answer your question, the hardwired fm modulator will not help the whistle if there is still a bad ground. The hardwired fm modulator will greatly help your static and clarity however. If I was paying per month for my music, I would definitely want it to sound good, trust me hardwired is the way to go.

Second, there are plenty of fm modulators out that will work. If you have a stock radio you will need 2 antenna adapters, because the hardwired modulator will have an antenna input from the car, and an output to the radio. Other than that, give it power, ground, and connect it to the microjack (headphone jack) output on the side of the roady and you will be good to go.

Hope this helps
Kevin

the inline FM Modulator for the SkiFi2/SkiFi2 can be used with the Roady2, I'm an installer for circuit city too. Had to do this on a 540i cause he was getting too much static. Funny tho, i've never encountered alternator whine with any DSR install. Take it back and have'em try a new ground and see what happens, make sure they didn't cut the power plug off (since it takes a 6v input). I strongly suggest the in-line fm-modulator though...much cleaner sound imo.
