I just found a slightly used MTX 6304 4-channel AMP and a subwoofer for sale.

Is this good stuff?

MTX is good stuff. The amps are way underrated. I don't recognize that model number, though. Are you sure it's right?

Oh, stupid me... That's one of the new ones. I haven't memorized the new stuff yet. That amp will probably put out about 80 watts per channel continuous at 4 ohms. That's definitely a good amp. MTX has powered many many systems through competition.

You have chosen wisely...

Sorry was just watching last indiana jones

Yes, MTX is some good stuff! I absolutely love those amps and I personally have 3 of them. They will drive any speakers you want with clean power. Get it and I'm sure you'll love it!

That amp has a good xover built-in, so you don't need to buy another one.

yes, i would just make sure to change the fuse that comes with it to a better quality one, like i said in the other post this is what just killed mine. It burned up and killed it and now i have it sent in to them. and wow, one thing they dont have is customer service, i mean i got the job done but they are not very accomidating on there way there thats for sure. trying to blame it on me, it wasnt my fault!! heh

heh, at least my confidence in them has been raised with all of this positive oppiioin on their product, stupid jerks at wireless world were all makin fun of me cause i bought mtx stuff, idiots probably dont know what theyre talking about.

Now thier Road Thunder stuff isn't that great of quality, but the Thunder series is some good stuff!!! As for the xover like Micah said, no need. They have a pretty good one built in. That's all I use in my 3 amp setup. As for the speakers

Here's what I recommend:

Front stage: whatever sounds good to you!
Subs: Whatever sounds good to you!

Seriously. I don't have to listen to it day after day, so buy what sounds good to you. just go and listen to all of them, and write down the model numbers. you can usually find everything cheaper on the web, so that's why I say write down everything. Also, take your cd's. You know what they have on them and your favorite tracks, so listen to those. Don't worry about the spec's on them, just get the one's that sound good. Unless you are competing there's no need to get into all the technical stuff. My suggestion too, try not to look at the price or ask the sales guy not to tell you until you make up your mind. I have found that I tend to alway think the most expensive speakers sound best, but not always the case.

Like I said, just listen to them all so you can make an educated decision on what YOU want.

Your's is one of the top of the line mtx amps. if it starts with RT or says road thunder its thier lower end stuff. not saying it is bad, just the low end. of the new amps the road thunder series doesn't have the chrome plate on the front and they have different model numbers. most places only carry the thunder series, but places like circuit city carry the road thunder lines.

naw, MTX sucks, i prefer Planet Audio, now thats a good brand, not many people have heard of them, but there awesome, i could hit 156db's at the dash in a 95 tahoe w/6 12" planet audio dvc's, 1 Planet audio Big Bang amp ,15 farad cap, custom subwoofer box, and an epicenter, and lightining cell battery, so in my opinion, go with planet audio!!!! but do what ever floats your boat ya know

-Peace

Do you have anything to support that claim? There are millions of people who seriously disagree with you. Including a lot of IASCA judges and audiophiles.

Brandon, there are very few salesmen at stores like Circuit City or Best Buy that know what they are talking about when it comes to stuff like that. I usually make mincemeat out of them when it comes to stuff like audio and computers.

Oh Yeah....

I'd say go for it! MTX amps have a very good reputation for giving you some serious bang for the buck. I agree that going with the Thunder line would be better than going with the Road Thunder line.

heh, i konw exactly what your taling about with the people that work at those places. BUt i actually had to deal with MTX directly, because it was over that 30 day limit at circuit city or some crap. And MTX themselves doesnt have customer service worth crap, tryin to blame the problem on me. hehe i wonder how longs its gonna take for them to send me new or used one back...
