components -vs- coaxial
I have 6.5" infinity kappa components in my front. The sound ok, but my friend has 6.5" pioneer 3way coaxials in his car and the mids and highs sound better. My kappas have pretty good bass response but aren't they supposed to sound better than coaxials?

thats primarily because Kappas are not that great, particularly in the midbass dept......
You could try some sound deadning in your door to help midrange response, also the placement of his speakers perhaps offer better imaging in comparison to your setup

generally, you get better response from components because of the superior imaging you can create with the separate mounted tweeter. a good pair of coaxials can produce good sound results as well, but IMO you can't match the imaging components will give you

Very good and accurate response. Props.

What kind of speakers would you guys recommend (on a budget)? I'm interested in clarity in the highs section. I just want to be able to play my alpine headunit to the max or very near it without having distortion.
