"Welding Wire" as power wire

I was tired of looking for 0 awg wire and ending up with nothing. I recently came across something called "welding wire" in 0 AWG. I was so thrilled that i just bought it. It is very fine stranded with lots of little threads, it has a 600 volt rating on the jacket (i dont know if this means anything). The wire is copper and very heavy. The only thing i think is different is the jacket, this welding wire has a rubber thick jacket as the usual car audio wire has a thick vinyl hard rubber/plastic jacket. My question is, should i use this anyway or keep searching real car audio wire?

I've heard that welding wire works but I've never tried it. It is a lot cheaper than car audio wire. You're welcome to try it and let us know. I like your old sig better.

The guy that sold it to me told me it works too and i dont doubt that. What im think is can i run the same amount of juice through it without lighting it up or burning it.

a solid 0awg cable is the same as a stranded 0awg cable. the only difference being flexibility. they handle the same current. end of discussion. please do not respond with SKIN effect, or else i'll have ur *** in a sling.

yea skin effect. people always bring this up in this type of discussion. they usually say that smaller wire is better because of less resistance due to skin effect. this is true but only for high frequency AC power. has nothing to do with DC
