What kind of speakers/amp do you have?

MB Quarts seem like it's still the top choice (despite the cost) for sound after all these years. How would you guys rate other brands like Kicker, Infinity (if you own these I'm specially interested), Rockfords...?

As for an amp, do I necessarily need a 4-channel amp for my 4 speakers? Is it a bad idea to get a 2-channel amp and split to 4 speakers?

I don't have an amp on my speakers, but I do have Boston Acoustics RM6s (6.5") in the rear and Infinity kappa 4X6s in the front. The sound quality is amazing and has excellent highs. Now, I just need a 10"/box/amp combo....anyone selling??

just my $.02

I HIGHLY recommend getting some speaker pods from james92se to fit 6.5"s in the front doors. I just swapped my Bostons FX7 series 4x6 to the Boston SL65 6.5"s. The sound improvement is niiiiiice

But back on topic, I have some Boston Acoustics SL65 up front and some Alpine 6.5's in the back. No amp (yet), so everything is just pushed by my Kenwood HU.

I would recommend on choosing for what you plan on doing in the future. I had two main choices when I was doing my car. Clarion, or Memphis. Both sounded great, but each had it's differences.

Memphis, great mids, I mean awesome. Highs were ok.

Clarion: Beautiful Highs, mids were decent.

I choose clarion because I'll be adding subs, and that will cover most of the bass/mid range. So I needed something that had highs that could still be heard. Memphis would have been great if all I wanted was interior.

Buy according to what you plan on doing in the future, saves you money and time. And some speakers don't need an amp if the right deck is choosen. I have a JVC h/u running my clarions. And they sound great, I don't see a need for an amp.

In the mail right now i have a pair of Monitor Audio 6.5 components.
Going to drive them with an Avionixx 800.2 amp (200x2@4ohms for comps)

Subwoofer is an IDQ10v2 in a .5sealed box driven by Avionixx 3001R (300x1@2ohm)

THe Monitor Audio comps i found very luckily online, they are made in England and only sold in the European/Asian market. They should give me some amazing SQ i can't wait

i had a 5 ch amp at first but it didn't have enough power and it was taking up too much trunk space. then, i was considering one 4 ch amp and one mono amp but for where i wanted to install the amps, the 4 ch amps were too big. so i decided on running 3 amps; one for the front, one for the rear, and a mono amp for the 8" sub.

I have 4 Kenwood KFC-C1739ie 6.5" speakers powered by 2 200w 2 channel Pioneer amps. These have the tweeters built into them so i get nice high, mids, and lows. Best sounding speakers i've heard in a while.

i have infinitys all around for my speakers....super clear highs in my opinion my bud has MB quarts, his is a little louder, but that is mainly cause he has two sets of comps for front/back. i only have the front.....this is the kappa perfect 6.1 (front)/kappa (rear) both 6.5" the back is a HUGE improvement, they actually get highs and vocals now compared to the BOSE system. powering with Polk audio 400.1 carbon series amp. that is about it.

yes, get a 4 ch amp, you can use your aftermarket HU i guess, if you use the 2CH amp and split, youll lose fade. Also are you a very detailed listener?? if not why spend all the money on speakers you wont even know the difference, I just think most people spend all this money are expensive speakers just to say they have such and such. Listen to them yourself at an audio store and decide for yourself. Spend that extra cash some place else, haha.

I'm selling my Rockford 10" subs with a MTX amp. Since you're in GA, shipping might be a b**ch though. Let me know what you think after you check my website out.

http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/730839/2

Anyone else interested I'll ship the subs and amp, but the box is too heavy and you'll pay $$$$ in shipping. If you're local in Northern California, we can schedule a pickup.

I'm hooked on my Focal's, and haven't heard anything that I really like more. I've got 5 1/4"s up front and they are extremely clean.

ive got eclipse 6.5" up front and eclipse 6x9s in the back....they aren't awesomely loud, but they really sound good, and for a very minimal cost. Don't have an amp, my Pioneer H/U does the job just fine. Now, I'm waiting for a 12" RE sub, then I'll be runnin nice

I have Infinity Ref series up front. 6.5"+tweet. They are "ok" for normal driving, but lacking when jammin. My Quarts would not fit appropriately in the front doors, so I picked a set up that was relatively cheap (I am still using Quart MusiComp Xovers). I will probably upgrade the tweeter to my Quart tweeter and just leave the Infinity mid in there for a while. I did the same thing with my sub. I had a JL 12w6, but the foam seperated from the cone, so I replaced it with a Infinity 12" which is nowhere near as strong or clear as the JL.

I'm still looking for a good deal on a Q-series Quart mid for the doors. I am considering a 3-way setup in the trunk with JL 8w6's. Amp running the whole setup is a a/d/s PH15 bridged 3-way (175w x 3).

MQ Quart PSD 6.5 components up front
RF 6.5 in the rear
All powered by a RF 400A4 amp

Sound quality is so clear you could hear a pin drop while the music is playing. They are equally tuned all around. Plus 2 10" RF DVC's in the trunk, powered by a not enough power but thumps like hell RF250A2 bridged mono in a ported/vented box.
