spare tire well enclosure pics please

Hey,

I just ordered a titanium eclipse 12" woofer. I think an enclosure built into the spare tire well would be awesome for a one woofer setup, and according to some people i've discussed the idea with, it should work OK.

Can anyone please post pics of their spare tire well sub setup, and if possible this setup installed in a 5th gen max.

Thanks.

im pretty sure in the well where the tire is...

to my knowledge it's more of a cool factor, from what i hear it doesnt sound as good as facing the rear w/o deadening

yea but dont u think the soundwave will not be greater than compared to being in the trunk cabin itself rather then inside the spare tire well...

i just thought it would be pretty nice to have the entire trunk floor and have it hidden like that... anyways it turns out to get the custom work it might cost more then i'm willing to spend ATM.

I was recommended to checkout sunrise audio and see what deals they have( since your from NY as well). Where do you recommend good audio installs for reasonable price?
thanks.

hey mjg, to make a custom trunk and spare tire well enclosure is really not that difficult or expensive. i could write you up some general details on how to do this and get started and finished if you would like me to. it shouldnt be too big of a task for you if you have just a little bit of wood working skills. a custom setup could be completed within a weekend or two, or even a little longer depending on how much further your imagination and budget will let you go. just respond back if you would like me to do that quick write up.

I wouldn't do that. You lose bass putting the subs in the wheel well facing upwards. It's better to be facing towards the back of the car. It produces more bass.

I had my amps in the wheel well:

And then when I finished all my friends were lovin it:

With the subs not in the wheel well there are more possibilities for doing something cool.

when you cover up amps like that, do your amps get hot. or do you need to put in fans or something for cooling purposes?

yeah my spare tire well is fiberglassed in, but its not like he's talking about with the speakers facing up and the amps surrounding it in a false floor.

Nope. No spare tire. If I get a flat (or cracked rim as I experienced) then I'll replace it with a 17" wheel from home or one of my sawblades. The spare tire is just tooo small especially with 17' and 18's

Nope. The Eclipse amp's are great at keeping themselves cool. Other amps that are poorly made overheat because the company cuts corners and stuff like that. When I had my old setup my RF amp was on top of the box and overheated once and my eclipse amps never overheated nor did I ever have an issue.
