Box or Bandpass?
#2
As I've read, bandpass are more for show, and less for sound. It is probably true that your sub will sound better in a sealed or ported box rather than a bandpass. There are a lot of other things that affect sq and spl though, so change might not be that noticeable.

Sealed- great for SQ setups. Give great response to frequency changes, but requires more power to get any pressure out of them. Work great for all kinds of music.
Vented/ported- can be used for both SPL & SQ setups. They give out more pressure due to how the box is designed, but depending upon how the box is designed some frequencies may sound like crap, or just plain non-existent. Good for most kind of music.
bandpass- good for only kind of music... RAP. These are the monsters of booming. They only responed to one small range of frequency the best, and mostly rap music uses these frequencies. Also, the design of the box usually increases the pressure. 9 times out of 10, when you hear a car driving down the road, from about a mile away, they're using a bandpass. Easily notice by the same tone of bass coming out.

i play mostly house music. i remember when i had the same bandpass sub in my olded 4 door integra, the bass was just freakin amazing. i could feel every frequency, the whole car would role/rattle with the bass. but in my maxima, i could hardly feel the low frequency. no rattling, just a distorted thump during low frequency bass. hip hop sounds aweful also. no thump.
