ebay ROEM-NIS2

I am getting a new HU dvd player and getting rid of the bose. I am however keeping the amps/speakers. I think the part I need is the ROEM-NIS2. I saw this on ebay and was wondering if there is a big difference in quality among different ROEM-NIS2 adapters??? Any other recomended sites for the adapter?? Thanks much.

I did the exact same thing (new HU, kept the amps/speakers). I got a Schosche one for 19.95 from Cardomain.com. The only difference between it and the expensive ROEM - or others like it - is that the Nissan-specific wiring harness is not already on the box. Cardomain included the Nissan-specific harness which I then connected to the Schosche and then to the wiring harness from the new HU. A couple of adjustments later it works perfectly. Sounds better than the old Bose HU. I'm not an audio afficionado so that's more than good enough for me. At cardomain.com that ROEM was 54.95.

I guess you mean re-wire the stock speaker wires to bypass the amps and go directly to the speakers? Won't the 2 ohm speakers either send the amp into thermal shutdown or blow it if the protection is not good enough?

By this do you mean just by the normal harness. Then instead of connecting the speaker wires of the HU, connect the preamp output to the bose amp??

That might work if your HU has line-level outputs (mine doesn't).

It is actually pretty simple. Still using the aftermarket harness (Metra 70-7550) connect all the speaker leads to male RCA ends, then plug them into your preout section of the HU. Typically speaking most HUs nowadays have at least 2 sets, so it shouldnt be a problem there.

Being that the Bose HU only sends a signal you are continuing to do the same via the new HU.

But is the signal voltage from an aftermarket unit the same as the Bose unit.
I think I have heard that you get really low volume by doing this, please correct if I heard wrong.

I tried the RCA out method with my Clarion DXZ845MC and the volume was really low. I crank it all the way up and it sounds the equivalent of turning it medium with proper setup with bose converter. Also, there's a medium to loud 'pop' noise every time you switch source (FM - CD - Aux) and powering off (don't remember if it occurs when changing stations).... but maybe I did something wrong??? feedback anyone?
