All that matters is guage that being said, I would go somewhere else... $250 sounds like alot.

should cost no more than 150 with 4 gauge wiring, fuse holder, rca cables rewiring of the interior speakers, hi lo converter etc...well more like no more than 200 it does consist of alot of work but dont goto circuit city, goto a reputable audio shop in your neighborhood to do the work.
4 ga. is kind of excessive for just interior amp. Something like 8 or 6 will work fine, depending upon the specs for the amp.
And yes some brands are better, but only in regards to the RCA cables. Going cheap on those can cause a lot of unwanted pickup from the ignition system, or other RF signals. For power, ground, and remote wires, wire is wire. The only difference there could be is size, and the material it's made out of. All most all of the companies today use copper.
And you can get full wiring setups from local stereo shops for around $90 for a 600 watt setup. Usually consists of 8 or 6 guage wiring, RCA cables, remote wire, fuse block, and connectors.
I'm assuming that $250 is for installing the amp, and wiring it. WAY TOO MUCH!!!!! And most of the national chains I've heard of installing usually screw stuff up. Local shops are better. They have to rely on all the business they can get. And who will come back to a store if they are known to screw things up? National chains don't have that problem, because they have other areas to make up any revenue lost. A local place just loses money and reputation. So they tend to try and do things right the first time. That way you'll come back.
