When I had my GLE, I had a 12W6 in the trunk aimed towards the back of the car, like most people. The trunk buzzed and rattled like crazy when I cranked it up.

But on my SE, I put the subs into the rear deck (none in the trunk), so, in addition to all the other benefits afforded by this setup, I have no buzzing or rattling of any body panels. With the system cranked, all you can hear from outside the car is muffled midrange coming through the window glass.

I will never put a sub into the trunk again.

Get some Dynamat...that will dampen the rattleling and improve the bass response....

I enlarged the stock speaker holes, made custom baffles, and made aperiodic enclosures under the rear deck. It sounds better than any system I've heard with subs in the trunk (and I've sampled many, many systems at IASCA comps). I did the work myself, so there were no labor costs.

you wont have much rattle, 2 sealed sq subs- just make sure licence plate is secure w/ 4 screws

but even with 4 secure screws it's still going to rattle from the vibration from metal if the trunk lid.....get the Dynamat.....trust me, you'll be happy with it...

i gave up on the license plate. but i might try to drill the extra 2 holes on the bottom. i guess my shivas arent sq subs because my whole trunk shakes.

On my GLE, when I had a 12 in the trunk, the license plate buzzed badly, so I got a large, flat piece of smooshy foam and glued it to the back of the license plate and then bolted it back on. It didn't make any noise at all after that.

The trunk lid always buzzed terribly, though.

Nope, my spoiler is and aftermarket OEM spoiler that was bolted down really tight at the body shop, no license rattle, no trunk rattle, the only thing that ever rattles is my necklace when I put it around my rear view mirror.

But as of about 10 mins ago, my system seems to be out of commission. I dont know what I did, but I didnt touch any of the wires. I disconnected the rear speakers because they arent useful....turned on my car and the subs worked just fine...then they cut out and I was like wtf and I looked at my amp and neither the security light nor the ready light were on. I was looking at the rear speakers because I have 2 RF 10s in my room that Im want to put back there.

HMMMMM, yesterday my battery died because I left my lights on all day at work!!!!! I bet thats it. I never even thought about that.....but the rear speakers arent useful because my mom blew one of them so they dont work so Im gonna put some 10s there....after I get a new battery I guess. Could that be the reason for that???

well you dont have to BUY a new battery..the battery recharges when you drive so it should be back to normal after a few hours of driving

ure guna put 10" subs instead of the speakers on the sides? do u have subs in the trunk already?

Yep, I already have subs in the trunk and I wanna put 10s in instead of the speakers on top of the backseat.

I thought the security light would be on at least if all the battery had to do was recharge. Thats why I got worried, does it not?

My car starts somewhat easily, but not as easily as it used to. I just wanna know why the security light is not on. That is what is making me worried. I will be bumpin with the 10s but Im really concerned about my 12s. I have the 10s and the box for them sitting in my room, I dont know what Im gonna do with the box?

btw the amp im about to get for the 10s makes 50W x 2 into 4 ohms (12.5V 20-20kHz 0.05% THD) and 100x2 into 2 ohms (200x1 into 4 ohms bridged). Maximum power is 600W into 4 ohms. Its a Fosgate also. The subs are punch series and have a 150 watt RMS and 300 Peak Power. That amp should be about right, correct?

yea the amp should be good..im not sure about the light though..maybe its a fuse..or

maybe the comp thinks that the battery has enough power to run just the car so it

just doesn't turn on. since the subs are seperate from the computer that turns the

light on and off...i mean if the battery is charged somewhat..the light wont come

up..but mayb its not charged ENOUGH to run the subs..u kno wat i mean lol
