From what I've seen, best bang for the buck is buying on the internet. I agree, you do not want a Kenwood. I would suggest a Pioneer or Alpine, IMO. You may want to try talking to Pearl96Max here on the org. Don(pearl96max) has a good reputation here and he sells car audio. He may be able to help you, or at least point you in the right direction. good luck.

Pioneer 8600 would be my choice. I have a Pioneer 6400 and it is great. I just wish I would have gotten a 6500 with MP3, but I still like the visualizations.

Alpine is consider like the number one hu for your money and they really are and the 9827 is a great unit has 5v out put for the sub and everything else you need. Alpine is the best for quality sound, the eq's on the unit are sick you'll like it

That is definately opinion based.

Its only 4V and again opinion Based.
I personally would always take an Eclipse unit over them, as many of the true audiophiles would agree.

As far as a audiophile stanpoint i would say eclipse is the best, But it is all preference. I love Kenwood for their new technology and fetures which nobody offers, n thats why all my stuff is Kenwood, I may live to regret it but thats my choice. As long as you stay in the major brands your ok. Their will always be good and bad stories about every brand. You will want more n more out of you system as time goes on so keep that in mind when buying your deck.

Since everyone is claiming their opinions....mine is Clarion.

You can get one of these units for around 230 bucks on ebay. It even has 128MB of built in flash memory that you can record your MP3s to

Another side note...that it also has a feature that mutes the sound when a cell phone rings in the car

Just to note there is no best, eclipse is excelent, but then so is Nakamichi and dennon, and no one can forget the alpine f1, or the pioneer P1R, or sony C90.

In your case lower end pioneer seems to give you a lot for your money. Alipine is good but I am unsure of their lower end offereings. Sony is probably not a good bet, unless you love red. Clarion is good stuff, and that listed above is cool but 128 internal memory seems kinda small.

So if you can get an eclipse (save some money you will like it more down the road) or pioneer if you need it now. You might also want to consider used decks, just a suggestion, sometimes you can get some really good deals on equipment that isn't really used at all. Best of luck.

I'll put my Pioneer Premier DEHP930MP against just about any comprable Alpine out there. From all the HU's I've owned, Eclipse (while the most expensive) was the best interms of sound quality. Followed by Pioneer (Premier) and Alpine.
